Objectives:
Assist the project team to deliver the assigned project safely, to plan and to the allocated budget.
The role:
* Responsible for ensuring that tasks are completed safely, within planned timescales and in line with quality standards.
* Assist the Senior Construction Manager in the detail planning of the assigned project in line with the project plan.
* Ensure that design, materials & plant are available for the designated tasks in line with the plan.
* Maintain a constant site presence and provide the main point of contact to uphold site standards.
* Implement the use of InnDex and EviFile with all construction teams on the assigned project.
* Responsible for recording of progress against planned works & report variances between planned and actual performance and agree appropriate action.
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, sub-contractors and other discipline project management and contractors.
* Ensure compliance with standards in relationship to quality and safety of all installation work’s identifying and proposing improvements as required.
* Assist in the management & co-ordination of drawings & plans.
* Co-operate with quality, safety and environmental objectives and contribute, where appropriate to Atkins Realis commitment for continual improvement.
* Author required working documents for identified project activities in a clear, concise and timely manner.
* Carry out and record regular Safety & Quality Inspections.
Your Purpose:
* Assist with the management of projects to identify and achieve safety improvements where identified.
* Assist the management team monitoring & controlling working times in line with the Atkins Realis Working Time Arrangements: PR 022 Fatigue Risk Management.
* Attend safety meetings and briefings. Disseminate information to staff and subcontractors under your control in a timely manner.
* Monitor the technical requirements of the work, including implementation of subcontractor quality assurance and subcontractor adherence to quality management plan.
* Interface with design and engineering teams to resolve technical issues as encountered on site.
* Implement and ensure adherence to company and project safety and environmental procedures.
* Accept the work once it is found to meet the design and quality requirements.
* Maintain configuration control.
* Support in the generation and disposition of change documents (NCRs) redlines and as-builts.
* Drawing and specification control and interpretation on the construction site.
* Support the schedules developed by the project and advise of any risks to the SCM and LCE.
* Review and approve subcontractor work as stipulated in the Inspection and Test Plans.
* Support the Commercial Manager/ QS as required (Subcontract).
* Responsible for onsite material management.
* Generate and close snag items.
* Assist in dealing with variations and contract claims.
* Monitor, by inspection and audit of work sites and review of office records and procedures, the compliance of contractors with their assurance case, health safety quality and environmental plans and work package plans, task briefing sheets, risk assessment etc.
What you can bring:
* Few years of site-based construction experience working on rail projects.
* Experience of working on rail systems projects.
* Experience of working with other rail discipline interfaces.
* Qualification or awareness of Working at Height implementation & management, Confined Space working, Cable avoidance, Plant operations including ALO, Lift planning, man machine interface, Isolations and worksites.
* Experience of project supervision / management.
* IOSH Certificated Safety Management Course or equivalent.
* Safety Critical skills required are PTS, IWA, COSS.
* Knowledge and experience of the rail industry and associated rules and regulations, including understanding of NR/L2/OHS/019 Safety of People Working on or Near the Line, NR/L2/OHS/044 Planning and Managing Construction Works and NR/L3/INI/CP0064 Delivering Works within Possessions.
* Computer literate in Microsoft 365.
* Ability to communicate effectively with the workforce and other staff managers.
* Motivator and leader with strong sense of responsibility.
* Willingness to learn new skills.
* Clean UK Driving License essential.
