Interim PT Speech & Language Therapist

This opening assignment is for 8 months

Enhanced DBS disclosure required
Looking for 2 days a week - ideally Tuesdays and Thursdays or Tuesdays and Wednesdays or Monday - Friday to capture all the students. As long as Tuesday is the main day
Candidates who would have 2+ years' experience and are registered, licenced to practice and registered with the royal college
Needing clinical and also work references - needing to pass the QTLA
Offering intervention to Individuals but also group work and advice and guidance to tutors as well as. Would be 8-10 class size 16-25 and have an education health and care plan and the speech and language specifics will be outlined in the plan. Take responsibility, with supervision from an experienced Speech & Language Therapist, for the provision of assessment, diagnosis, and intervention of caseloads of students in a range of settings including specialist education and work experience settings. Develop skills and abilities in the delivery of speech and language therapy and the ability to reflect on clinical practice with the support of senior and specialist colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload of students, post 16 with ASD, learning disabilities and speech and language difficulties independently, completing assessments, annual reviews, writing individual programmes, implementing groups, providing advice and resources and reviewing outcomes with a curriculum and functional based focus. There will be the opportunity to learn these skills on the job, from a specialist Speech & Language Therapist.
Demonstrate clinical effectiveness drawing on evidence-based practice and outcome measures
Assist in providing training to other staff and take part in multi-disciplinary training as appropriate.
Work via teaching assistants, tutors, families and carers to achieve outcomes for individual students, providing support, programmes, ideas, advice and assessment.
Take part in developing a curriculum that can integrate Speech & Language Therapy intervention into meaningful and interesting sessions for the students.
Qualifications:
Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree/Post graduate degree Qualification or equivalent
Health Care Professions Council – Licence to Practise
Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
Knowledge:
Working knowledge of relevant information technology
Knowledge of relevant assessment tools for post-16
Knowledge of relevant national policies and procedures
Knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions
Understanding of local issues relevant to delivery of a Speech & Language Therapy service
Awareness of the principles of clinical governance /audit
Awareness of the roles of other relevant professionals
Awareness and sensitivity to the needs of students from a range of ethnic and linguistic backgrounds
Awareness of standards of record keeping
Experience:
Interest in acquiring broad experience across various relevant care groups
Skills & Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal skills – including observation, listening and empathy skills
Demonstrates good analytical and reflection skills
Well-developed concentration skills
Good presentation skills, both written and verbal including ability to write clear and concise reports
