Location: This will be a hybrid role, based largely remotely. Candidates should be able to travel to a Generation UK Hub (London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow) and willing to travel for team/organisation meetings and events (4 days per month on average).

As People Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring every touchpoint of the employee lifecycle is smooth, engaging, and aligned with our values. Reporting to the People Director, you will manage everything from onboarding to performance management and employee well-being.
This role is not just about operational excellence—it’s about making meaningful contributions to our three-year people strategy projects, fostering an inclusive, healthy, and high performance workplace where everyone can thrive.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Main areas of responsibility,
1. Recruitment Support:
o Oversee recruitment processes through Workable ensuring recruitment responsibilities are met by line managers
o Support line managers in delivering an inclusive recruitment experience to our candidates, embedding the Generation adopted inclusive recruitment best practices.
o Support line managers in interviews, offer and pay decisions.
2. Onboarding and Contracting:
o Leading contracting and onboarding of new starters and contractors, ensuring a smooth transition into the organisation.
o Ensuring all contracting documentation and checks are completed as per safer recruitment compliances.
o Organising & delivering quarterly inductions for new employees, providing a comprehensive understanding of the organisation’s values and operations.
3. Employee Lifecycle Management & Line manager support:
o Supporting line managers with performance appraisals, promotions, team’s professional development, PIPs, ensuring timely and effective execution.
o Maintain accurate and compliant documentation across all stages of the employee lifecycle.
o Developing new people policies and maintain existing ones, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and legal requirements.
o Ensuring mandatory policy training coverage through the global training page.
o Delivering monthly payroll for UK & Ireland with support of a payroll provider, ensuring accuracy and adherence to timelines.
o Conducting quarterly pulse check survey ( engagement survey) analysis and action tracking to foster a culture of engagement and continuous improvement.
5. HR Systems Maintenance:
o Updating and maintaining HR systems- Breathe HR, Sentry, Workable, and 15Five, to ensure they reflect current organisational needs.
o Evaluating current HR systems new features to understand if they can be adopted by the organisation.
o Ensuring employees understand system usage.
o Leveraging HR systems for employee data, trends and insights.
6. Occupational Health and Well-being:
o Provide Support Needs Conversations /Access to Work support for new starters and employees declaring disabilities.
o Facilitate return-to-work meetings, risk assessments, and documentation for employees & coordinate Occupational Health support as needed.
o Support People Director + Wellbeing working group in delivering Health & Wellbeing initiatives
7. Other responsibilities:
o Contribute to People team projects aligned with the 2025-27 strategic plan.
o Work with the People Director on developing & embedding Inclusion initiatives & practices.
Requirements
PERSON PROFIL E
Here is the knowledge, experience and skills you will require to be successful in this role-
* Education: CIPD Level 5 Diploma or equivalent HR qualification.
* Experience: Proven track record in People Operations or HR roles with a focus on People/HR operations and employee engagement.
* Technical Proficiency:
o Proficient in using Google suite, particularly Google sheets & Excel. You must love Excel!
o Experience of working on HR systems and HRIS, such as Breathe HR, Sentry, Workable, Yoti and 15Five. You must also love tech platforms and should be tech savvy!
* Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding UK employment law and implications, UK best HR practices and key HR policies. Keeping abreast of UK & Ireland employment law updates is imperative.
* Other skills relevant to the role:
o Strong interpersonal abilities to handle sensitive issues with professionalism and discretion.
o Excellent organisational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
o Analytical mindset to interpret data and drive actionable outcomes.
