As the Automation Engineer you will be a key member of the Natrix sorter module team as a controls and automation expert. Using your experience in PLC programming you will analyse and understand customer and TGW specifications and applicable regulations / legislation for the design and development of material handling systems and to ensure these are implemented on TGW projects. What you'll be handling Understand new customer requirements and produce updates accordingly to existing PLC software solutions Maintain and enhance product documentation Work with Lifetime Services and Upgrades and Enhancement departments to provide updates to existing customer sites Support project teams as a design authority and work with multiple teams such as electrical designers, commissioning teams, and project management to ensure sorter systems are delivered successfully and on time Consult with Product Development Teams ensuring that product updates fulfill expectations and to provide detailed feedback on issues, and where site-based modifications have been required, ensuring continuity Work with the Sorter Module Project Manager and the Product Development Team to ensure that module libraries remain up to date, and fulfill all requirements for key customers, and for the TGW Commander Standard Provide technical expertise in support of sales activities Fault find, diagnose and find solutions to problems with complicated, non-standard equipment, supporting project teams with such issues as a wider technical support for all TGW projects Provide support to the TGW help desk Promoteand steer company standards and ensure best practiceis implementedin all design work Ensure that the department produces systems that conform to or exceed all applicable regulatory and company standards What you'll need Essential Extensive experience of PLC commissioning and testing in an engineering / industrial environment Excellent analytical and fault finding skills Significant experience in developing PLC code from scratch for complex functions An in depth understanding of Siemens TIA Portal programming platform Detailed understanding of control systems hardware and design principles, including; low voltage control gear, networks, fieldbus systems, industrial drives, bar code reading systems Good communication skills, able to effectively communicate with all levels of people encountered throughout a project life cycle Strong organisational and time management skills Knowledge of functional safety programming Knowledge of British and / or European standards that are relevant to the controls automation industry Good housekeeping skills including revision control, as-built documentation etc. Ability to travel and work on customer sites within Europe Desirable Background in Material Handling/Conveyor Industry or similar industry Experience / knowledge of the CE marking process Good knowledge of MS-Office What you'll receive 25 days annual leave Car allowance Flexible working Medicash health cash plan Training and development ADZN1_UKTJ
