This is your chance to thrive as you rotate across Hyper-Acute Stroke, Acute stroke rehab and Acute neuro medical and trauma rehab. It's the ideal role for a Band 7 or an experienced Band 6 physiotherapist who wants to broaden their horizons, develop their skills and work to build the profile of neuro therapy across North West London.
The service covers:
· A 16 bedded hyper-acute Stroke Unit and a 36 bedded stroke rehabilitation ward. These both have an established interdisciplinary team approach and require the applicant to use innovative thinking and strong working relationships and excellent clinical skills to maintain and enhance high standards of stroke care.
· Potential to include the Neuro Outpatient service, Stroke Early Supported Discharge Team and Ealing Hospital Acute neuro therapy team., We're looking for an HCPC-registered Band 7 physiotherapist who has experience gained in community outpatient, acute and rehab in-patient services. In this key role in our teaching Trust, you'll also need experience of supervising others in their day-to-day role. As you'll get the chance to rotate, we'd expect to see evidence of the clinical application of core therapy and reasoning skills - as well as some knowledge of wide-ranging assessments and interventions for patients with varied neurological conditions. Developmental positions will be considered starting at a band 6 level and progressing to a band 7 position once key competencies are met., As an autonomous practitioner to assess and treat own case load and provide a highly specialist neurology physiotherapy service to patients.
To work as a member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), assessing and treating patients with highly complex neurological disability and maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records.
To work jointly with other Band 7 Physiotherapists to clinically lead the inpatient neurological physiotherapy service including Stroke and acute neuro medical caseload - there are other band 7 neurology physiotherapy opportunities in the trust that can be included into the rotation on consultation with the rotational cohort, these could possibly include Neuro Outpatients, Stroke ESD and Ealing Hospital.
To work closely with the cross-site Deputy Director of Therapies and the Clinical Therapy Lead for Neurology to support the development of the Neurology Physiotherapy Service.
To contribute to the management of all aspects of the Neurology Physiotherapy Service. This includes prioritising and organising all referrals to the neurology service and allocation of patients.
To be responsible for the development and appraisal of the team members, including Band 6,5,4,2 and students.
To regularly provide formal and informal, on-going training and education to physiotherapy staff, other healthcare professions and students.
To engage in own continued professional development (CPD) and service development.
To take a lead on clinical audit within the team and undertake research.
To participate in the weekend working rota (1 in 5 weekends), and the respiratory on-call rota
