We are working with a leading organisation specialising in the design and development of cutting-edge RF, microwave, and millimeter-wave components. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled Principal MMIC Engineer to join their team out of their Leeds office.
This role is pivotal in driving innovation and delivering next-generation solutions for high-frequency applications, including telecommunications, aerospace, and defence systems.
As a Principal MMIC Engineer, you will be at the forefront of developing advanced monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) and leading complex projects from concept through to production. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including RF engineers, system architects, and manufacturing specialists, to deliver high-performance, scalable products.
Key Responsibilities as a Principal MMIC Engineer:
1. Lead the design, simulation, and development of high-performance MMICs for RF, microwave, and millimeter-wave applications.
2. Drive end-to-end project management, from initial concept and design through to prototype development, testing, and final production.
3. Collaborate with internal teams to define technical requirements and ensure compliance with industry standards.
4. Conduct detailed design simulations using advanced CAD tools (such as AWR, ADS, or HFSS) and validate designs with real-world performance testing.
5. Interface with fabrication facilities and manage the MMIC development process through foundry partners.
6. Troubleshoot design issues, optimise performance, and ensure high levels of reliability and manufacturability.
7. Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering innovation and technical excellence within the team. Qualifications and Skills:
8. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field (PhD preferred).
9. Proven experience in MMIC design, including RF/ microwave circuits such as power amplifiers, LNAs, mixers, and switches.
10. Strong proficiency in using RF and MMIC CAD design tools (e.g., AWR, ADS, Cadence, HFSS, etc.).
11. Familiarity with III-V semiconductor technologies (GaAs, GaN).
12. Experience in tape-out processes and working closely with foundries for production.
13. Strong analytical skills and experience with test and measurement equipment (such as network analysers, spectrum analyzers, etc.).
14. Excellent communication and project management skills.
15. Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. If you're interested in this role as a Principal MMIC Engineer, please contact Zac at IC Resources.
