We are looking to recruit 2 healthcare assistants to join our team, based mainly at our Wotton site but be flexible to work at any of our three sites if required.
We are looking for an experienced healthcare assistant with competencies in phlebotomy, wound care and working in a primary care environment. Familiarity with SystmOne would be desirable.
The posts would be for 20 hours per week each to be worked over 3 days, the days of the week and hours are flexible.

About us
Culverhay Surgery is a well-established friendly GP training practice located in Wotton under Edge, Berkeley and Frampton on Severn in Gloucestershire. The Culverhay ethos is very much based around continuity of care and good team working to provide excellent, responsive patient care for our 17,500 patients.
Our team consists of 3 partners (1 managing partner), 12 salaried GPs, a full mix of nurses, a senior clinical pharmacist, pharmacy technicians, frailty care co-ordinators, social prescriber and practice counsellors. Not forgetting our fantastic reception and admin team who work very hard to minimise administrative burden for the clinical team. Staff turnover is very low and the practice encourages feedback, to help us create a happy supportive practice environment.
We are a GP training practice (Severn Deanery) with 2 GP trainers. In addition, we are a teaching practice (University of Bristol medical students and UWE/University of Gloucestershire nursing students).
Job responsibilities
Working under the direct supervision of the senior practice nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
Duties and responsibilities:
1. Health checks
2. ECG recording
3. Phlebotomy
4. Flu vaccinations
5. Spirometry
6. Support to Stop Smoking Clinics
7. Chaperoning duties
8. Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
9. Send surgical equipment to CSSD and check equipment back in.
10. Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
11. Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
12. Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
13. Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
14. Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients' health and well-being
15. Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
16. Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
17. Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
Qualifications
Essential:
1. Healthcare qualification (level 3 or 4) or working towards gaining equivalent qualification.
2. Phlebotomy certification.
3. Infection control.
Desirable:
1. Experience in working in a primary care environment.
2. Wound care/removal of sutures.
3. ECGs.
4. Patient health checks, including height, weight, BP, pulse.
5. Stop smoking clinics.
6. Flu and B12 vaccinations.
7. Ability to record accurate clinical notes.
