We welcome applicants who are trained nurses with experience in working with children and families as well as newly qualified nurses who have a keen interest in School Health.
Applicants should be committed to team working and possess excellent interpersonal skills. Successful applicants will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team of school health staff who will work with children, young people, and families to identify relevant health needs and ensure these are addressed in line with the approved service pathways.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within their allocated district supported by the School Nurse to assess the health needs of individual children and the school population as a whole. They will also support other districts within their team where need arises. They will proactively address factors affecting health to ensure that children and young people achieve the best possible outcomes and will work with vulnerable children and families to reduce the risks of social exclusion and health inequalities.
Minimum Requirements
The successful candidates must have:
* Nursing qualification and on the NMC register
* Experience of working in the community or in a Paediatric post and knowledge of child development, health promotion, public health and safeguarding children would be an advantage but not essential.

Qualifications
* BSc Nursing degree or relevant healthcare subject
Experience
* Evidence of recent professional development
* Experience of team working
* Experience of working with children and families.
Skills/Knowledge
* Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge and application of up to date evidence based clinical trends and practice
* Knowledge of current public health and health promotion issues pertinent to community children's services
* Knowledge and application of the NMC Code of Conduct
* Knowledge of clinical audit and its relationship to research
* Ability to generate written communication which is relevant, concise, accurate and legible
* Ability to demonstrate individual responsibility in relation to health and safety
