Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant Location: Disley, Cheshire Specialism: Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm About the Role We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our team at a specialist school in Disley, supporting students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). Key Responsibilities: Provide tailored support to students with ASC, ensuring individual needs are met. Assist in the delivery of differentiated learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher. Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all learners. Use communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or other visual aids to enhance understanding. Support students with social interaction, emotional regulation, and sensory needs. Encourage positive behaviour in line with the school's policies. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to ensure a holistic approach to education.Essential Requirements: Experience working with children or young people with Autism Spectrum Condition. A genuine passion for supporting learners with SEN. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, empathy, and resilience in challenging situations. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.Desirable: Relevant qualifications in SEN, childcare, or education. Knowledge of ASC-specific strategies and interventions. The right teaching assistant will need have a nurture approach, put boundaries in place and be resilient to emotional needs.
