Role Overview:
Statham House is a semi-independent provision with ten flats based in Rochdale. We work with unaccompanied asylum-seeking Children who are aged 16 to 18, who are referred to us by Rochdale or Oldham social services. The aim of the work on the project is to prepare the young people for independent living skills and support them in accessing services. We work closely with other Agencies to ensure the smooth transition from supported housing to independent living in the community.
We have an opportunity for an individual who is interested in working with us as a Young People Support Worker. You will manage a caseload of clients, addressing their physical, emotional, social and behavioural needs; supporting them to progress towards independence.
In addition, you will ensure that the accommodation is properly maintained and take an active role in the support of the clients to sustain their tenancy. You will give additional support so as to ensure that the clients have the sufficient skills and resources to manage and maintain their own accommodation when moving on from Depaul UK into independent living.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients in the service at all times possible including using Safeguarding and emergency alert procedures as applicable.
* Carry a caseload of clients for whom you will be the named key worker, and you will also take joint responsibility with your team members for the wellbeing and day-to-day support of all clients in the services.
* Lead on risk and needs assessment and support planning for your key clients and contribute to ongoing needs and risk assessment of other clients in the service.
* Develop and implement SMART outcomes-based support plans for your key clients.
* Support all clients to participate in Education, Training, Employment and Volunteering opportunities as appropriate to the development of their skills, assets and aspirations.
Please note that this job opportunity is offered as a full-time, permanent role and you will work in a rota that is made up of Weekdays (Monday – Friday).
What We Are Looking For – Person Specification:
* Experience of working within a busy supported housing environment.
* A knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments and Support Planning.
* Experience of facilitating workshops and client involvement activities.
* Be able to complete housing management duties and tasks.
* Be able to work on a rolling rota that includes waking nights, weekends, bank/public holidays, and late’s.
* The ability to lone work and be pro-active and solution focused.
