* Undertake outpatient clinics new and follow-ups with supervision of junior staff as appropriate.
* Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with dental and medical colleagues in other specialties and participate in regular clinical meetings and other postgraduate activities.
* Develop and maintain good communication with General dental practitioners, colleagues in the salaried dental services and local orthodontic specialist practitioners.
* Orthodontic treatment of complex malocclusions
* Active involvement in Audit, Clinical Governance, morbidity and mortality meetings
* Participation in the departmental educational activity.
* Share responsibility for data protection particularly digital and electronic records.
* Ensure good clinical practice and continued professional development.
* The post holder will comply with infection control practices and any relevant trust policies and procedures with regards to Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults.
* Supervision of the Specialist Registrars, DCTs and therapists will be required.
The appointee will participate in teaching of medical & dental students, dental DCTs, FY2s, StRs, OMFS trainees and courses for General Dental Practitioners (e.g. Section 63) as required
* GDC Registration Full registration
* BDS or equivalent. ISFE, (orthodontics) or equivalent.
* CCST in orthodontics; OR Registration on GDC Register in orthodontics; OR within six months of achieving ISFE at the time of interview.
Desirable criteria
* Higher dental degree
* Further qualification in teaching or education role
* Educational Supervisor training (if not completed pre interview a formal commitment to completion on commencement of post will be required), Evidence of SAC approved specialist training in orthodontic to consultant level or equivalent
* Evidence of 2 year Post CSST or equivalent training
* Ability to make decisions at consultant level, Excellent leadership, organisational, communication, professional and personal skills sufficient to undertake effectively the role of consultant in orthodontics in a large teaching hospital.
* Good personal and interpersonal skills
* Good written English. Communication skills should be highly developed.
* Experience of teaching undergraduates and trainees
* Evidence of effective participation in clinical audit and risk management.
* Evidence of research for CCST.
* Evidence of active involvement in clinical research trials and publications.

* Management training and experience
* Knowledge of the organisation of the NHS and the Government's agenda for Its modernisation.
* PG certificate/diploma in Medical Education
* Computing skills: ability to use word processor, spreadsheet programme and web browser.
* Publication of research., Transport: Driving licence, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
