Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship - Northway School As a SEN Teaching Assistant Apprentice, you will have the exciting opportunity to support experienced educators in a dynamic learning environment. Key Details: Salary: £6.40 per hour, paid monthly Working week: Monday to Friday, 33.5 hours a week, 8:35am - 3:50pm. (Term Time only - 39 Weeks a year, Study all year round) Holiday: 20 days holiday Notice Period: 1 Week notice is required before the probation period is passed and 1 Month notice is required after the probation period is passed. Apprenticeship Details - 16 months expected duration to complete, working towards your Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification. (All learning is delivered online/ remote). Training Provider: LMP Education (rated 1st best UK training provider) Key Job Responsibilities: Classroom Support: Provide support to the lead teacher in classroom activities, including setting up materials, assisting with lesson delivery, and managing student behaviour to ensure a productive learning environment. Individualized Assistance: Work closely with students on a one-on-one or small group basis, providing additional support and guidance in understanding subject matter, reinforcing concepts, and addressing learning challenges. Classroom Management: Assist in maintaining discipline and order in the classroom, reinforcing established rules and procedures, and helping to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment. Learning Resources: Help in organising and preparing learning resources, such as textbooks, visual aids, and supplementary materials, to enhance teaching effectiveness. Assessment Support: Assist in administering and grading assignments, quizzes, and tests, as well as recording and tracking student progress and performance. Special Needs Support: Collaborate with the teacher and other support staff to accommodate students with special needs, ensuring their inclusion and participation in classroom activities. Technology Integration: Support the integration of technology into the teaching and learning process, assisting students with the use of computers and educational software. Parent Communication: Maintain effective communication with parents, conveying student progress, addressing concerns, and fostering a positive home-school partnership. Professional Development: Actively participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance teaching skills and pedagogical knowledge. About the Placement Northway School is a special school in the London Borough of Barnet that caters for pupils with learning difficulties and disabilities including those on the autism spectrum. Northway is currently going through a period of expansion - from September 2022 the school has taken on a second site (Grasvenor Avenue, High Barnet). This is to enable us to provide a bespoke education for more SEND pupils within the borough. The Grasvenor Avenue site caters for around 45 Reception and Key Stage 1 pupils and our Mill Hill site houses over 90 Key Stage 2 pupils as well as our newly opened secondary provision. Our new secondary provision currently has two classes of Year 7 & 8 pupils and will organically grow over the next few years.
