Experienced/Senior Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist

Due to an increasing forward workload, we are currently looking to appoint an experienced/Senior Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist position within our Edinburgh Team. The successful candidate will have a fantastic opportunity to work on a variety of projects spanning the renewables, transportation, industrial, retail, residential and commercial sectors.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Data collection, manipulation and interpretation of both geotechnical and geo-chemical data as part of site investigations for a wide range of schemes.
2. Preparation of Geotechnical Desk Studies, Interpretative Reports and Specifications.
3. Design, Procurement and Supervision of Site Investigations.
4. Undertake geotechnical analysis and design e.g. slope stability, settlement assessments and foundation and retaining wall design.
5. Inspections of foundations and gas protection measures.
6. Site support and monitoring activities on infrastructure construction contracts.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
1. Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology.
2. Experience in the design, specification and management of ground investigation works.
3. Proven experience in geotechnical design to UK Eurocodes as part of multi-disciplinary projects.
4. Experience undertaking geotechnical design works for shallow and deep foundations, piling works, earthworks, slope stability and retaining walls.
5. Preparation of geotechnical reports, including desk studies, Ground Investigation Reports, and Geotechnical Design Reports.
6. Preparation of specification and drawings for construction works.
7. Experience in the use of geotechnical design software, e.g., OASYS suite or equivalent.
8. Preparation of fee estimates and input into tender submissions.
9. Mentoring and training of Junior staff.
Advantageous:
1. MSc in Geotechnical Engineering/Engineering Geology.
2. Hydrogeological modelling experience.
3. GIS experience.
Successful candidates must be approaching or recently chartered (CEng or CGeol), with a flexible and enthusiastic approach to working within a dynamic team, and have the confidence to deliver challenging projects and support the development of junior staff.
