Calex is a specialist training and consultancy organisation contracted to several market-leading automotive manufacturers. We are seeking to recruit a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join the Mercedes-Benz Apprenticeship Programme team based at a dedicated and state of the art training academy based in Milton Keynes.
The Apprenticeship Programme is responsible for the development of hundreds of apprentices across the Mercedes-Benz Car, Van, and Truck retail networks in the UK.

Purpose of Job
It is every employee’s responsibility to promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons he/she is responsible for or comes into contact with. Therefore, every employee will be required to hold a current enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring Scheme) certificate.
As the safeguarding Lead you will provide professional advice and support on safeguarding matters to staff and associates, and ensure the organisation is fully compliant in their safeguarding case management and statutory duty and responsibilities.
You will also manage safeguarding casework as well as liaising and meeting with external bodies, and occasionally delivering training.
Qualifications & Experience
6. Experience of working in a role where safeguarding/child protection is a key element (Essential)
7. Understanding of current legislation around safeguarding in particular within Apprenticeships (Essential)
8. Knowledge of Keeping children safe in education (KCSiE) (Essential)
9. Prevent duty (Essential)
10. Knowledge of Ofsted (Essential)
11. Able to build strategic relationships both internally and externally (Essential)
12. To work as part of a team rota at evenings and weekends providing support and guidance as required (Desirable)
13. Experience of working in Apprenticeship Training Provider (Desirable)
14. Knowledge of multi-agency working and partnership (Desirable)

Place of Work & Hours
Mercedes-Benz Academy, Milton Keynes, MK15 8BA. There will also be times when it may be necessary to work from home, or from an alternative client location (such as Dealers/Retailers, or Hotel).
Typical working hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week. The successful candidate will be required to monitor an out of hours emergency phone line. This will include taking calls from the hotel on Sunday evenings to monitor arrivals/non-arrivals; providing guidance to the hotel on any safeguarding or other incidents, as well as taking calls from apprentices who contact in an emergency.
