Carpentry & Multi-Skills Tutor
Location: HMP Ashfield, Pucklechurch, South Gloucestershire
Hours: 32 hours per week, 4 days a week (option to take off either Monday or Friday)
Salary: Up to £35,000 FTE
Are you an experienced Carpentry & Multi-Skills Tutor in Further Education, or a skilled carpenter looking for a rewarding new challenge?
We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate tutor to join our Education, Skills, and Work team at HMP Ashfield. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact by delivering Level 1 and Level 2 City & Guilds Carpentry courses, with the potential to teach Multi-Skills courses.
As a tutor, you will play a key role in inspiring the next generation of construction professionals, delivering engaging and practical lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of learners. Your expertise will help students develop their skills and confidence in a structured, inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality training in carpentry and multi-skills, ensuring lessons align with the curriculum and industry standards
* Adapt teaching methods to cater to varying abilities, creating a positive and supportive learning environment
* Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback to support development
* Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessments, and progress reports
* Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the curriculum and teaching methods
* Engage with awarding bodies to ensure compliance with quality and assessment procedures
* Stay up to date with industry advancements and integrate best practices into your teaching
What We’re Looking For
* Level 3 qualification in Carpentry and Multi-Skills trades
* Level 5 teaching qualification (or a commitment to obtaining it as per contractual requirements)
* Proven experience in the construction industry, particularly in Carpentry, Joinery, and Multi-Skills
* Level 3 Assessor Award (or equivalent)
* Level 4 Verifier Award (or willingness to work towards it)
* A strong commitment to student development and continuous professional learning
Additional Information
Due to the nature of this role within a prison environment, employment is subject to thorough vetting checks. Candidates must meet security clearance requirements before commencing employment.
