The role of patient flow co-ordinator is to support the nurse in charge of the emergency department in maintaining patient flow, streaming and to work towards maintaining departmental targets.
As patient flow coordinator, you will assist registered nurses in complex discharges from the unit and will be assisting in the coordination of transferring patients to the ward or other departments to continue care. You will work closely with the MDT within the department to ensure patients are referred to a specialty in a timely manner.
Main duties of the job
An opportunity has arisen for a patient flow coordinator in the Emergency Department Team at Furness General Hospital. We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and motivated individuals with excellent communication skills. Ideally, candidates should have acute/health care experience, but this is not essential as training and support will be provided. A shift system is in operation between the hours of 07:00 - 20:00, and you will be expected to work weekends.

Person Specification
Education and qualifications
* Good standard of education
* Previous experience in a care environment
* Clinical course appropriate to area, e.g., cannulation, venepuncture, ECG skills
Experience
* Working within a multidisciplinary team
* Evidence of recent professional development
* Experience of establishing effective communication
* Experience of implementing change
Skills, ability and knowledge
* Demonstrable/willingness to undertake specific clinical skills appropriate to specialty
