We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our department in an exciting opportunity to broaden their experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
Applicants should have four years full-time post-graduate training, at least 2 of which will be in Trauma & Orthopaedics. This post is suitable for those who would like to develop their careers either as a Non Consultant Career Grade or who wish to consolidate their experience before moving on to other senior roles. This position provides excellent preparation and precursor to applying for such positions. The appointees will gain a wide variety of clinical exposure in Trauma & Orthopaedics outpatients department, inpatient, elective and trauma theatre exposure and on-call activities, with a strong commitment to high standards of patient care. The department has a strong ethos around training and education for the development of our medical staff.
The post will be based at Withybush General Hospital, but the post holder will be required to undertake sessions across other sites within the organisation. We are looking for a candidate with a commitment to excellence in team working and relationships, who can also demonstrate good leadership skills and work with enthusiasm.
The post is a permanent position, and the post-holder will be expected to take part in an on-call middle grade rota (1:5).
Main duties of the job
The role will involve supervision of admissions to the wards, management of patients under your team's care, clinical investigation, diagnosis and treatment of all patients admitted to the ward and central treatment suite, as well as assisting the Consultants in running the outpatient clinics. The duties also involve maintaining patients' clinical notes and discharge summaries.
You will be required to co-operate with your team in the efficient running of services and are expected to share in the medical contribution to management, training obligations, and modernisation of the service.
You will take part in the Middle Grade rota in the Trauma and Orthopaedics Department.
