Your Role and What You'll Be Doing
Our experienced Planning and Environmental team has a strong track record for providing top legal advice across planning and environmental issues. Recognized nationally in Chambers and Partners, Legal 500, and Planning Magazine, the team is led by Claire Petricca-Riding, one of the UK's top 100 environmental practitioners according to ENDS Power List.
The team has extensive experience in sectors such as development (commercial, residential, retirement living), education, retail, logistics, manufacturing, and waste management.
Recent activities include:
* Complex Section 106 Agreements for multi-use residential developments
* Due diligence for major property portfolio refinancing
* Judicial review of mining schemes
* Planning enforcement issues in luxury residential developments
* Brownfield redevelopment for city centre regeneration
* Environmental liability advice for port groups
* Environmental liability assessments during acquisitions
* Odour nuisance claims and prosecutions
* Environmental investigations and prosecutions for waste organizations
* Regeneration projects for university campuses
* Environmental due diligence for PRS developers
As a solicitor, you will handle a wide range of planning and environmental matters for notable clients, supporting team growth, business development, and mentoring junior members. We welcome applicants from private practice, local authority, or public sector backgrounds.
This role can be based in Gatwick, Brighton, Southampton, or Chichester.
About You
* Proven experience in planning and/or environmental law
* Knowledge of planning and environmental processes
* Understanding of criminal law and judicial review procedures
* Property and corporate due diligence expertise
* Confidence to handle complex cases independently
* Enthusiasm for the field and commitment to client outcomes
* Network of contacts and social media skills for business development
