If so, come and join us as the Head of Category for Heating and Renewables! You’ll lead and manage category & commercial activities, develop strategies, drive innovation, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Within this Head of Category role you’ll leverage your expertise in heating and energy efficiency to enhance our product offerings and customer proposition. As a Head of Category your strategic thinking is essential for this role.
The Role:
As the Head of Category for Heating and Renewables, you will oversee and manage all commercial activities within these categories. Working closely with key stakeholders from the Commercial Function and other business areas, you will develop and implement strategies to enhance our Heating and Renewables product offerings across various sectors.
This Head of Category role will have a primary focus on growing revenue, margin, and market share through the creation and execution of various propositions. While the Head of Category position is based in Crick, you will have the flexibility to work from home and will need to travel to support the business.
You will drive innovation within the category and ensure compliance with regulations and standards. This Head of Category role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of energy efficiency technologies and practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Build a strong commercial understanding of the market, key suppliers and products across current and future ranges. Working closely with the broader business to support the development and execution of robust, proactive, go to market programmes with these correct suppliers and product ranges.
2. Create a best in class Commercial Category Team ensuring they are motivated to excel and are appropriately supported in all they do. Provide inspirational leadership that engages and motivates all levels of colleagues within our business. Encouraging a growth mindset in the approach that we take to innovation and challenging the ‘norm’.
3. Develop extremely close relationships with relevant suppliers to ensure we are their Partner of Choice. Use these relationships to generate best in class Supplier Trading Plans, which in turn will maximise benefit for our business.
4. Own the pricing and trading strategy across all categories and customer sectors to ensure greatest profitability is achieved, reviewing market trends and reacting to them in a timely manner.
5. Develop our Own Brand/Exclusive ranges and build a clear pipeline of sales and margin accretive opportunities.
6. High level of focus on Terms improvements inline with set budget, and seek ongoing efficiencies and working capital benefits and one off savings at every opportunity, ensuring we maximise all profit gain opportunities
7. Work with your team in developing and implementing industry leading Category Trading Plans and Category Strategies, and ensure they are implemented to maximum effect
8. Responsibility for the end-to-end procurement of a wider range of goods, works and services to meet the diverse needs of current and future technologies, identifying short to long term opportunities. This must be carried out whilst ensuring the best procurement results for our internal stakeholders with respect to cost, quality, delivery and meeting compliance standards.
This is a hybrid-based opportunity with up to 3 days per week in the office.
You should be based in the UK and our Head Offices are in Crick (Northampton).

Skills and competencies
9. Strong proven experience in Heating and Energy management industries, sustainability, or a related field, with a proven track record of success in driving energy efficiency initiatives.
10. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyse data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
11. Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience driving commercial results in a matrix organisation or a business with operations teams.
12. Experience in strategic planning, budget management, and project management.
13. Ability to understand the business needs and propose practical solutions.
