Role Overview
West Yorkshire Police seeks applications for the role of Evidence Manager to ensure the department functions are maintained professionally, effectively, and efficiently, following established practices and processes. The role is crucial in supporting operational colleagues to achieve successful investigation outcomes.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will proactively manage performance, attendance, and wellbeing of police officers and staff, ensuring support aligns with policies and procedures. They will provide leadership, supervision, and monitor departmental efficiency, managing resources and maintaining the integrity chain for evidential/property items, including critical items like drugs, firearms, cash, data, and sensitive exhibits for court cases. They will also handle unplanned critical reactive tasks.
Essential Criteria
* Good knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Health and Safety)
* Experience managing a team within a clerical or administrative environment
* Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Strong numeracy and literacy skills
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Ability to pass relevant courses (Niche, manual handling, ladder training)
* Good organizational skills with attention to detail
* Basic knowledge of safety and security procedures for items like cash and forensic samples
* Physical ability to handle bulky items
* Resilience to challenging warehouse conditions (e.g., smells, lack of natural light)
* Willingness to wear uniform and PPE
* Willingness and ability to travel throughout the Force area
* Full UK/European Driving Licence with capability to drive police vehicles
Note: Due to the nature of the role, biometric samples (fingerprints and DNA) will be required for inclusion on relevant databases.
