Introduction
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Product Engineering team within the Grinding, Bulk, and Pyro Business Line, part of our broader Services Business Area. In this position, you will report to the Manager of Product Engineering.
You’ll be responsible for designing three types of stirred mills – Vertimills, Stirred Media Detritors (SMD) and HIGmills. This involves preparing mechanical drawings, applying engineering principles, and developing new design ideas. Your role plays a crucial part in delivering high-quality products and services to our customers, positively impacting their operational efficiency.
This position is based in our York, PA, office. We are pleased to offer flexible working arrangements, including a hybrid schedule, ideally with three days per week in the office. This role requires approximately 2-4 weeks of travel annually. Please note that relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.
The Team you belong to
You will join a global team of experienced mechanical engineers committed to advancing our grinding equipment portfolio. We are passionate about continuous improvement and fostering open discussion. Currently, we are focusing on product development, R&D, digitalization, and integrating a new product line into the portfolio. Your team members are in the USA (York), and Brazil (Sorocaba).
What you’ll do
* Create mechanical drawings for the fabrication, construction, and installation of equipment for refurbishments, upgrades, or retrofits.
* Apply mechanical engineering principles to meet customer requirements and specifications.
* Develop design solutions for mechanical equipment, perform engineering calculations, and ensure the accuracy of drawings.
* Provide expertise in design, fabrication, quality assurance, sourcing, and troubleshooting.
* Conduct site visits to assess physical constraints and limitations for equipment modifications.
* Identify mechanical issues and recommend corrective actions or repair procedures.
* Suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and performance.
Who you are
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
* A Mechanical Engineering degree.
* At least five years of experience in product design for grinding equipment or comparable machinery used in mineral processing, construction, or related industries.
* Proficiency in 2D drafting and 3D modeling using industry-standard CAD software for the design and development of mechanical systems.
* Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools such as Teamcenter, Vault, or Enovia.
* Proficiency in both spoken and written English.
Experience with the following is considered an advantage:
* Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for mechanical linear analysis.
* Rubber parts manufacturing.
* Working knowledge of SAP.
