Toolroom operative Permanent role - 37 hours Up to £28,000 We are seeking a professional Toolroom operative to join an existing team in the Oldbury area of Sandwell. This role is of key importance to the continued growth and development of the company. The ideal candidate will have hands on experience within a CNC turning environment with the ability to work under pressure. The individual will be expected to support the day-to-day production activities in the most efficient manner, working within a team to provide both manufacture of new parts and conduct repairs to support the manufacturing divisions. Person specification for a toolroom operative: Experienced in CNC Turning necessary, Siemens Shop turn control would be advantageous Experience with manual lathe work and general Toolroom machining methods Able to read and understand engineering drawings » Well organised, multi-skilled, self-motivated, and professional Good timekeeping and attendance Responsible for achieving own key objectives, as well as the objectives of the team Able to prioritise own workload and work to tight deadlines under pressure Computer literate and able to communicate and record information effectively Attention to detail; accuracy is paramount » Able to communicate at all levels and have a “can do” attitude Willing to progress skillset on new equipment and machining methods Must be eligible & able to prove that you can work in the UK, as the Company does not hold a sponsorship licence. Your responsibilities as a toolroom operative: Operate Toolroom equipment to a high standard Operate a Forklift Truck and Overhead Crane to assist with daily duties whilst also enabling tooling to be delivered to production – training will be provided Ensure as part of the team, manufacture is covered in a timely manner so that try-out dates are met Ensure as part of the team, breakdowns are covered in a timely manner so that production downtime is kept to a minimum Aim for a “right first time” approach to all work carried out Liaise with contractors/suppliers where required and when additional support is needed, including agreeing timescales and costs Maintain awareness and ensure full compliance with Health and Safety legislation, housekeeping standards and Company rules and procedures Follow verbal or written instructions and work to set out procedures Seek continuous improvement related to the business KPI’s and as part of the team, contribute towards improved performance and the overall improvement of the business.
