Location: In terms of location, we have offices in Bath, Bristol, Fareham, Weymouth, Plymouth, Glasgow & London, and we are happy to explore flexible and hybrid working arrangements. Please note that travel to customer sites or to attend meetings will be required.

About the role
The Infrastructure Consultant role is part of the Systems Engineering Team at BMT, focusing on meeting clients' infrastructure needs. This position involves providing technical advice on infrastructure upgrades and new projects, ensuring clients can manage their assets efficiently and act as informed customers. Key responsibilities include using technical expertise to guide clients in making decisions about infrastructure designs, enhancing the effectiveness of their infrastructure, solving technical problems, defining and managing requirements, and implementing solutions that deliver benefits. The role also involves supporting business development activities to increase the visibility of BMT's infrastructure offerings, designing and testing subject matter relevant to the capability area, and working independently with limited supervision. The consultant will ensure proposed solutions are understood and exploited, identify opportunities for best practices, and take responsibility for their work, decision-making, planning, and analysis.
About you
You are an experienced Infrastructure Consultant with a minimum Level 4 qualification (e.g., HNC) in a relevant Engineering or Science subject, or equivalent work experience. Your background includes M&E or Civil/Structural Engineering experience gained from working in infrastructure environments. You excel in stakeholder management across multiple levels and possess effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing. You handle customer feedback professionally and are proactive in your continual professional development. As a UK Security Cleared and sole UK national, you bring a self-starter approach to your work.
Ideally, you have M&E or Civil/Structural Engineering experience in defence infrastructure environments, particularly maritime. You are familiar with Systems Engineering Principles as defined in the INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook, and have knowledge of nuclear Safety Management Systems, Safety Cases, Assurance & Regulation, and Nuclear Authorisation Conditions. Your understanding of the CADMID process further enhances your capability to deliver infrastructure solutions that are safe, secure, environmentally responsible, timely, and cost-effective.
