Controls Engineers are essential to any manufacturing process. In general, they are responsible for ensuring that manufacturing processes are running smoothly and efficiently, while constantly reviewing procedures and equipment. As a result, a Control Engineer will be closely involved in the manufacturing process at every stage, whether it’s coming up with long term maintenance plans or streamlining a process to ensure faster production. Making sure that safety standards are maintained is also a key part of this role.
Due to the large amount of troubleshooting involved in this role, Controls Engineers need to have excellent analytical skills. A solid understanding of industry-relevant software and hardware is also very important. Being able to effectively analyse plant processes, and then actively identify, design and implement improvements will be a major part of the job as well. Excellent communication skills are also a must for Control Engineers, as they will be liaising with colleagues regularly. Most Control Engineer roles expect candidates to have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide specialist Process Control System (PCS) technical expertise and support for the process plant.
2. Support the development and implementation of technical solutions.
3. Assist in ensuring accurate tolerance and dimensional control across all designs.
4. Work closely with the Senior Production Engineer to ensure product designs are effective.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering.
2. Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
3. Strong understanding of relevant software and hardware.
4. Effective communication skills.
