Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust
Special Care & Transitional Care Lead
Do you feel passionately that keeping mothers and babies together should be the cornerstone of newborn care? Then this is the role for you! It is an exciting time for Neonatal services on the Epsom site as we expand to support our maternity colleagues in delivering outstanding Transitional Care (TC). The post holder will lead a team of neonatal nurses, supporting them to work flexibly across the SCBU and TC depending on service need. Epsom SCBU is a Level 1 unit and is commissioned to provide 6 special care cots. Additionally, SCBU provides level 2 & 3 care as needed prior to transferring out to appropriate centres. Simon Stewart is the co-located postnatal ward with the capacity for up to 8 TC cots. If you feel you would like to discuss this rare opportunity more, contact me directly as below. I am happy to facilitate a conversation or unit tour prior to interview. Please note this post is a full-time managerial position and as such will be Monday-Friday office hours. However, compressed hours may be considered.
Main Duties of the Job
The role's key focus is to facilitate the implementation and evaluation of care pathways within Neonatal Transitional Care (NTC) with the objective of keeping mothers and babies together where possible, and avoiding term admissions to the neonatal unit. It will involve close working with the inpatient Neonatal and Midwifery matrons both strategically and operationally to meet the BAPM recommendations and framework for neonatal transitional care.
