The salary is broken down as £42,232 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £50,385, plus a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location: New Scotland Yard, Westminster. In this role, you are also expected to work at other Met buildings across London as part of a blended working agreement. There are also some opportunities for remote working when appropriate.
There is no greater mission than keeping the public safe, and we are looking for brilliant communicators to fulfil a range of roles in our Campaigns, Internal, Strategy, and Local Communications teams. These communications roles are integral to the success of the Metropolitan Police Service. Our communities, police officers, and staff depend on excellent communication and engagement.
These roles are about supporting the delivery of New Met for London through effective internal and external communication. They sit in a newly created area of the Met’s Communications and Engagement Directorate, covering internal communications, internal and external campaigns, and marketing. While this role is predominantly focused on internal communications, the post holder will be expected to flex across to support other teams.
You will also be expected to work at other Met buildings across London as needed as part of a blended working agreement, particularly if your portfolio is strategy and local. There are also some opportunities for remote working when appropriate.
You may on occasion be required to work weekends and other out-of-hours cover, with appropriate notice, for which time off in lieu or overtime will be available.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a broad spectrum of modern communication skills, the ability to work across communication disciplines, and exceptional written, verbal, and storytelling skills and expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
* The day-to-day development and delivery of high-quality corporate communications products, ensuring a clear purpose for each communication that delivers on its objectives with clear messaging, tone, and consistency of voice.
* Advocating for our workforce and becoming the voice of our internal audience within our communications team, using insight, data, and on-the-ground knowledge to shape our storytelling.
* Supporting the strategic planning of communication activity across disciplines, building on three-month plans, ensuring you are delivering on your portfolio and priorities, and providing clear and concise communication advice.
* Developing insight and research to better shape communications plans, products, and outcomes.
* Working with key departmental, organisational leads, and relevant stakeholders to ensure opportunities for understanding, alignment, and support are maximised.
* Understanding the New Met for London plan and the Commissioner's priorities and using this to implement key messages clearly, accurately, coherently, consistently, and creatively.
* Influencing and building relationships with local policing teams and internal and external stakeholders to get their buy-in and ensure they use the right communications material, in the right place, at the right time.
* Representing communications, including in organisational or partnership meetings, to provide high-quality communication and engagement advice across the breadth of the communication spectrum.
Additional Information:
Work pattern: 36 hours a week. You may be required to work occasional weekends or out-of-hours with appropriate notice.
