We are seeking a Category Manager, Direct Procurement, for a 12 month contract to cover for maternity leave. The Directs category covers professional sub-contractor services, for example architectural services, engineering design and various surveying services. This is an exciting time to join the Directs team - the business has just announced its compelling three year strategy, and the Category Manager has the opportunity to create, align and implement a new category strategy to the business strategy, to drive cost savings and value. Working as part of a diverse team, on wide ranging engineering and civil projects, alongside a broad selection of professional stakeholders and suppliers. Develop and implement category strategies to optimise cost and value to support the operations to win more business Responsible for developing a pipeline of category activity to deliver cost savings and business value Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, potential risk and implement best practice procurement Lead contract negotiations, ensure contracts are accurately implemented and the contract value is delivered Work closely with stakeholders to develop collaborative relationships to ensure procurement are involved in a strategic capacity with all significant procurement activity from the outset; to align and implement category strategies with business goals, and to drive value beyond cost reduction. Utilisation of appropriate Supplier Relationship Management to ensure suppliers perform in line with their SLA’s, drive continuous improvement and for more strategic suppliers ensure that innovation and growth options are also pursued What we will be looking for you to demonstrate… Evidence of delivering cost savings and other value from using a Category Management process Procurement experience within an Engineering consultancy services organisation Proven experience of developing and managing stakeholder relationships in a complex matrix environment Contract and performance management of strategic and critical suppliers Capable of driving insight through analysis of data, management information and market intelligence CIPS qualified Don’t quite meet all the criteria?
