ABOUT THE ROLE
Due to the company’s expansion, there is a need for a Quantity Surveyor to support the Directors, within their civil engineering and surfacing part of the company. My client is looking for somebody who’s very hands-on, somebody who can take responsibility, and somebody who’s also willing to help in other parts of the company if needed, E.g., estimating. There is a brilliant opportunity to progress into a head of commercial role and run, build and train the commercial department the way you want it to look.
The successful candidate will be responsible for measuring and managing costs on their responsible projects with the goal of making each as profitable as possible, ensuring the delivery of payment, and developing of client relationships. You will also be involved in viewing and evaluating payments including site measurements (as necessary) and will undertake general surveying of projects as required. This will include reviewing and pricing variations and preparing valuations with Project Managers and the Commercial Director. The projects that you’ll be involved in will be highways. Footpaths, hard and soft landscaping, playgrounds, and surfacing within town centre aesthetic regeneration schemes. You will work on term maintenance contracts, dealing directly with the client as well as working as a Tier 2 for clients such as Kier Highways & Ringway Jacobs. There’s also the opportunity of working on private projects and doing the groundworks for residential developers.
REQUIREMENTS
You’ll be required to have a good standard of education preferably to a Foundation Degree level (HND or HNC) in Construction, Civils, Commercial Management, or Quantity Surveying (or hold an equivalent qualification).
It’s important you can demonstrate experience working within the civil engineering and highways maintenance sector working for a tier 2 or tier 3 sub-contractor or main contractor.
You’ll also need a full UK driver’s license to allow you to get from office to site and other locations you might be required to visit.
REWARDS AND BENEFITS
This is a brilliant opportunity for a hands-on Quantity Surveyor to progress, long term into a head of Commercial. You will be treated as a name, not a number throughout your time at the company.
You’ll be rewarded with a very competitive salary ranging from £45,000 – £60,000(depending on experience) + either a company car or car allowance.
