The purpose of this role is to report to the Head of HS&E, be the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Manager for Rolls-Royce Submarines HSE Function and provide a professional consultancy service to the Business. Accountable to the Head of HSE for Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems and Standards, maintaining compliance with applicable national legislative requirements. To lead, co-ordinate and represent Rolls-Royce Submarines in health, safety and environment issues/initiatives.

What you will be doing:
With this exciting opportunity you will get a chance to be involved with the following:
1. You will provide specialist HSE guidance, leadership and direction to the Site and possess deep specialist knowledge of HSE.
2. You will maintain knowledge of best practice HSE legislation and that of key stakeholders, and use them to drive strategy, processes and performance.
3. You will provide technical HSE direction to peers and associated teams and provide senior professional advice and consultancy in HSE management.
4. You will develop policies and strategies for continuous improvement and development of the HSE culture, encouraging, motivating and recognising good behaviour at all levels. Establishing maintaining and leading all significant accident and incident investigations, record systems, reports and accident trend analysis.
5. You will respond to HS&E incidents on the Main Site and maintain communications on the situation as needed.
6. You will coach managers to undertake and complete investigations. Further, analyse incident data to identify and understand trends and to propose improvements actions.

To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria:
7. Educated to degree level or equivalent professional HSE qualifications.
8. Chartered or working towards chartered membership of IOSH.
9. Experienced in providing high level advice and risk-based solutions in a diverse range of disciplines and have a proven track record in HSE management.
10. Good technical and management skills including problem solving, decision making and presentation skills.
11. A logical thinker capable of deriving a coherent delivery plan with a proven track record in solving complex problems and influencing others.
12. Confident & decisive. Good communication skills and ability to integrate with other teams and Delivery Business Units.

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
