We are looking for an experiencedHealthcare Assistant to provide high quality, compassionate care to our patientpopulation. We are a large practicedelivering care to a total of around 26,000 patients across four sites with awell-established nursing team of Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistances, NursingAssociates and Phlebotomists.

Main duties of the job
To providesupport to the nursing and medical team to ensure the efficient and effectiveprovision of the full range of nursing services to the patients of thepractice.
To ensure effectiveworking of treatment rooms and to maintain adequate clinical stock levels.
To undertakeother health promotion activities as directed by the nurse manager withinagreed delegated competencies

Job responsibilities
· Collection ofblood samples in accordance with training and procedures, ensuring the patientis comfortable, obtaining consent for the collection of a blood sample
· Ensuringsamples are stored in appropriate containers
· Accurate,legible labeling of all samples to confirm patient identity if TQUEST system isdown
· Checkingpatient identification against GP/nurse request
· Recording collection of blood sample in patient recordin accordance with practice procedure
· Spinningbloods in the centrifuge after the last collection time in line with SWLPathology protocols
· Ensuring thatsamples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion
· Givingvaccinations under PSDs as agreed with the nurse manager following practiceprotocols and policies
· Taking andrecording blood pressures following practice protocols and policies
· PerformingECGs in line with Churchill and Orchard protocols
· Performspirometry after undertaking ARTP training against protocols
· Performingaudiology appointments in line with CCG and practice protocols
· Undertakedoppler studies in line with practice protocols
· To act as achaperone as required after chaperone training
· To performsimple wound dressings and removal of sutures/staples after assessment by atrained Nurse. To record wound progress as appropriate.
· To run StopSmoking Sessions as per Churchill Medical Centre & Orchard Practiceprotocol
· To maintainagreed stock level of clinical supplies including vaccines and medicines. Torotate stock ensuring appropriate timing of use and prevent wastage
· To workalongside a practice nurse assisting in chronic disease management clinics asper Churchill Medical Centre Protocol
· Ensuring anyqueries are raised with a senior clinical member of staff
· Under takeBLS training; deal with faints following phlebotomy
· Notifying theGP or other clinical member of staff of any patient issues outside of yourcompetencies
· Liaising withother members of the nursing team to deliver high quality patient care, receivingand directing patients courteously, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
· Makeeffective use of the IT system by ensuring the consistent and accuraterecording of information and the correct use of read codes
· Tocomplete the Health Care Assistant Care Certificate, under the mentorship ofthe Nurse Manager
· Participatein practice meetings, patient participation groups and other meetings toimprove engagement with the role of the phlebotomist
· To ensurethrough safe working practices, the health, safety and welfare of colleagues,patients and visitors and to comply with Health and Safety policies andprocedures
· Toparticipate in the introduction of new procedures that will result in improvedservice provision
· Identify owntraining and development needs and undertake appropriate training/education asrequired
· Participatein an annual individual performance review process where objectives will beagreed, performance monitored and personal development needs discussed
· To attend allstatutory and mandatory training as and when required to do so.
