Here at Heart of England Mencap, we enable people with learning disabilities to lead fulfilling lives, allowing them to thrive and do, be, and feel their best! We know that we can only achieve this by hiring the best staff who share our values.
We are looking for Support Workers to join our team based within our Respite and Residential homes in Stratford Upon Avon. Our residential property is the home of 2 lovely residents who have learning disabilities and require some support with daily living tasks. Our customers enjoy a range of hobbies and activities, including gardening, horse riding, arts and crafts, dancing, and are all fond of going out for meals at the local pub.
Our thriving respite home offers a 'home from home' environment for customers. Our ethos is to encourage independence and social relationships. Respite can often be our customers' first experience away from home, so it's a great opportunity to learn new skills and develop their skills in a safe and supported way. We encourage our customers to access the community with activities such as cycling, swimming, shopping, and days out, and we are looking for new team members to share this passion.
Within both properties, our sleep-in shifts typically start from around 3pm, where you may spend some time supporting our customers with their afternoon and evening routine. You might be required to prepare meals with our customers or provide encouragement and support for them to do so themselves. This could also include assisting with grooming/personal care and washing/dressing. Our sleep-ins are paid competitively at £70.47 per sleep-in (between 11pm - 7am). A typical morning could then include helping our customers to get up, dressed, and prepared for the day before finishing your shift at around 10am.
Our day shift patterns within this service include: 8am - 3pm or 3pm - 9pm during the week and 10am - 6pm on weekends.
Some previous care experience is preferred; however, full training will be provided - after all, good care comes from the HEART.
Alongside being part of something amazing, our employee benefits include:
1. Extensive training and development – we will support with health and social care diplomas together with the care certificate
2. 28 days’ annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays), rising to 33 days after 5 years
3. Access to 24-hour Employee Assistance Scheme and trained mental health first aiders
4. Discount card for high street and online retailers
5. Employee ‘Refer a Friend’ scheme
6. Long service awards
7. Sick pay
8. Staff recognition awards
9. Work mobile
10. Mileage rates
11. Enhanced rates for Bank holiday and certain shifts
12. Flexible shifts
13. Company pension
If you want to really make a difference every day and share our values: Honest, Effective, Aspirational, Respectful, Trustworthy, why not apply today!
