We are looking for an experienced, motivated and flexible Occupational Therapist to join our Major Trauma Rehabilitation Team as a specialist Occupational Therapist. This is an exciting opportunity to develop more skill and expertise within a specialised area of major trauma rehabilitation.
The Major Trauma rehabilitation team is a multi-disciplinary team that provides specialist rehabilitation input to a 10 bedded in-patient unit and out-patient clinic.
We would welcome candidates with a breadth of occupational therapy experience who are looking to develop their knowledge and experience of specialist rehabilitation for patients with complex musculoskeletal and/or neurological injuries.
There will be a requirement to supervise and mentor support and junior staff and also pre-registration students, participate in and deliver in-service training and play an active role in quality improvement and service development.
Main duties of the job

The postholder will work with the major trauma MDT to provide a high standard of occupational therapy care to non-complex, complex and highly complex patients within specialty evidencing high-level problem solving, reasoning skills and independence of judgement. They will work with a complex in-patient caseload, act as key worker for a designated caseload, carry out key worker follow up telephone reviews and review discharged patients within the major trauma out-patient clinic.
The post holder requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all members of the MDT with flexibility, openness and motivation.

* To carry a caseload of complex and highly complex patients within the major trauma rehabilitation service, providing specialist therapy assessment and treatment, evidencing high level problem solving, reasoning skills and independence of judgement.
* To be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a consistent, equitable and high-quality evidence-based service is developed to meet the needs of patients.
* To be responsible for own continued professional development and facilitate a learning culture within the team undertaking audit and practice development.
* To provide day-to-day supervision of junior and support staff and students working in the specialist area.
* To provide highly specialist knowledge within the Trust and externally to therapists and other health care professionals from secondary and primary care.
