As the Head of Customs, Supply Chain, you are responsible to drive, manage and implement the group customs duty strategy. As the subject matter expert, you will also be the key person to advise the business on customs issues including any updates on regulations, duty rates and origin preference changes in UK, EU or other relevant jurisdictions. You will assist the business to prepare for these changes. You will work to continuously improve the customs duty spend to bring value to the business while complying with legal regulations.
What you’ll be doing
1. Using the in-house UK Customs Warehouse system (SAP GTS), ensure declarations are correct, issues identified and resolved.
2. Maintain Customs Authorisations to ensure the business can continue to operate an efficient supply chain for Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Ireland and entries into mainland EU.
3. Maintain Tariff Codes, review and set seasonal codes globally.
4. Liaise with the US Customs manager to ensure Clarks’ footwear and handbags have the correct Commodity Codes allocated.
5. Maintain and develop testing and review regime to ensure customs declarations for UK, Ireland and entries into Mainland Europe are correct, with particular focus on ensuring preferential duty rates claimed and testing requirements of AEO-C are met.
What you’ll bring with you.
You have Customs or Logistics qualification. Significant knowledge & experience of Customs Regulations and Duty regulations, both technical and practical. Good understanding of business operations and processes to ensure tax opportunities are maximized and tax cost minimized. Strong customs warehouse and related systems experience with bonded warehouse experience preferable. Strong understanding of post-Brexit customs procedures.
