Headteacher – SEN School
Location: Newcastle
Salary: Up to £80,000 per annum (depending on experience) + performance-related bonus
Start Date: April 2025
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional and dedicated leader to shape the future of a brand-new Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Newcastle. This is a unique chance to lead a school from its inception, creating an inclusive and nurturing learning environment where every child can thrive.
The Role
The Headteacher will be responsible for the strategic direction and overall leadership of the school, ensuring the highest standards of education, care, and support for students with diverse needs. They will lead a passionate team, develop the school’s ethos and vision, and work closely with parents, carers, and external partners to deliver an outstanding learning experience.
Key Responsibilities
*Establish and lead a new SEN school, setting high expectations for students and staff.
*Develop and implement a clear vision and strategy for the school’s success.
*Ensure outstanding teaching, learning, and progress for all students.
*Build and maintain strong partnerships with families, local authorities, and external agencies.
*Recruit, inspire, and manage a dedicated staff team.
*Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, safeguarding policies, and best practices in SEN education.
*Oversee the school’s budget, resources, and operational management effectively.
*Foster a culture of inclusion, positivity, and high aspirations for all pupils.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be an experienced and inspiring leader with a strong background in SEN education. They will have a passion for supporting children with additional needs and a track record of improving outcomes in specialist or inclusive settings.
Essential Criteria:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience in a leadership role within an SEN or inclusive school.
Proven ability to lead, inspire, and motivate a team.
Deep understanding of SEN, including EHCPs, complex needs, and inclusive teaching strategies.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, behaviour management, and best practices in SEN education.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, staff, families, and external stakeholders.
Strategic thinking and the ability to implement school improvement plans effectively.
A commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-achieving school culture.
Desirable Criteria:
*NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship) or equivalent leadership training.
*Experience in establishing or leading a new school or SEN provision.
*Knowledge of funding streams and financial management in education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
