What we're looking for:
The successful candidate will have proven experience in a hotel events background. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to successfully manage a conference and events operation. You will have strong leadership skills to support the head of the department with ensuring the team is equipped and trained to a high standard. You will have a hands-on approach and be present during key operational periods. Ensuring excellent communication and service to all hotel clientele. You will support the head of the department with ensuring all standards of practice are being followed in the department and challenging where not.
Day in the life of:
The Assistant Meetings and Events Operations Manager will assist the manager in overseeing the day-to-day running of the weddings, meetings, events and conference business across the hotel.
As the day unfolds in the realm of meetings, weddings and events operations, you step into a world buzzing with energy and purpose. Mornings often start with meticulous planning and coordination, ensuring each event and meeting space is set up flawlessly. Collaborating closely with the Meeting and Events Operations Manager, you dive into a dynamic schedule. From managing event logistics, coordinating with various departments, to overseeing the setup of meeting spaces, you're in the heart of it all. Smoothly transitioning from one task to another, your day sees you troubleshooting and problem-solving, all while maintaining a keen eye for detail. The thrill of orchestrating successful events, from intimate gatherings to bustling conferences, is the beating heart of your role. Each day is a tapestry of interactions, operations, and the joy of creating seamless experiences for our guests, making our hotel a hub of memorable events.
Example key responsibilities:
* Assist the Meetings and Events Operations Manager with planning and delivery of day-to-day M&E operations
* Training the new starters to the hotel standards
* Conduct event briefings with the wider team
* Execute the service promise to all guests ensuring 5* service is maintained at all times and delivered by the team
* Ensure all conferences, meetings and events are coordinated and managed within client expectations
* Ensuring stock and wastage is controlled and levels are maintained. Supporting with relevant training to support.
* Facilitating the ongoing development of the team. Supporting the head of department with carrying out regular reviews with team members alongside hosting department meetings.
* Support the head of department during any internal and external auditing. Includes branded and mystery guest visits.
* Ensure company policies and mandates including Food Hygiene, Cash Handling, Health & Safety, Manual Handling etc. are adhered to at all times whilst ensuring the team also comply with such policies.
