About Coding Black Females
Coding Black Females (CBF) is the largest community of Black women in tech in the UK, dedicated to empowering Black women in technology by providing training, networking, mentoring, and professional development opportunities. Founded in 2017, Our mission is to grow the community of black women in software development and technical roles, from entry-level to executive level. We remove the barriers to enter the industry and progress within roles.
As a CBF Ambassador, you will be part of a vibrant community that is shaping the future of tech by advocating for diversity, creating opportunities, and amplifying the voices of Black women. We are looking for passionate, proactive individuals to join us in spreading our mission and growing the CBF community!
Role OverviewThe CBF Ambassador role is perfect for those who are enthusiastic about tech and want to make a meaningful difference. As an ambassador, you’ll be the face of CBF in your local town/city/region, helping to promote our events, build relationships, and support Black women entering or advancing in tech. Whether you’re organising events, mentoring others, or creating content, your contributions will be key to expanding our impact.
This is a flexible and rewarding role that allows you to get involved in various ways, from social media engagement to event hosting—while networking with like-minded individuals and developing leadership skills. *For some areas you will be working with other Ambassadors.
What You’ll Do
As a CBF Ambassador you will be helping to grow the community of black women in tech and expand our network across the UK, you’ll do this by:
* Promote Our Mission: Spread the word about Coding Black Females through social media, local meetups, and industry events.
* Organise and Host Events: Plan or participate in workshops, networking events, and webinars that bring Black women in tech together and provide learning opportunities. (Minimum 4 events a year)
* Mentor and Support: Help Black women in tech by offering guidance, mentorship, or career advice. Be a source of inspiration and encouragement to those starting or advancing their careers.
* Build Partnerships: Connect with local companies, universities, and tech organisations to spread awareness and introduce them to the CBF team.
* Engage in Community Discussions: Participate in CBF’s Slack channels and discussion groups, contributing to a lively, supportive online space for our members.
What We’re Looking ForYou’d be a great fit for this role if you:
* Are passionate about tech! (essential)
* Love connecting with people, whether in person or online, and have a strong sense of community.
* Are active on social media or willing to share posts, events, and updates with your network.
* Feel comfortable leading initiatives, such as organising events or hosting discussions.
* Are willing to give 5-20 hours per month (or more!) to support CBF’s goals and initiatives.
* Enjoy public speaking or creating content (e.g. blogs, videos, podcasts) that inspires others.
* Interest in mentoring, sharing advice, and supporting other women as they advance in their tech careers (not essential)
