Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic forward thinking individual to join the established team in a busy Haematology Day Case and Outpatient Department. You will be part of a wider team of nursing staff, rotating through the department, including the outpatient clinic area, day case treatment area, apheresis area, and assisting with bone marrow aspirate procedures. The post will be based at the City Campus. The unit is open 8am-8pm Monday to Friday and Saturday 8am -4pm. The post holder will be expected to work Saturdays and bank holidays on a rotational basis. Main duties of the job Work as a member of the team providing a high standard of care to patients and their carers. Deliver high quality holistic care to patients with the indirect supervision of a registered nurse. Deliver efficient and effective care and communication between the multidisciplinary team, the patient, relatives and carers. Following appropriate training, undertake venepuncture, cannulation, venesection, PICC line care and ECG recording. Work within the apheresis department learning how to load kits, take blood samples and administration duties Assist with Bone Marrow Aspirate procedures. Participate in the effective running of the outpatient department, ensuring clinics are running to time.
