Customer Service Assistant (Relief) (Job ref: RCSA03)
Salary: £12 per hour
Hours: Casual
Location: Group 3 libraries: Barnstaple, and South Molton Libraries
Closing date: 9am, Wednesday 27th November 2024
Interview date: Thursday, 5th December at South Molton Library

As a Customer Service Assistants (Relief), you’ll work flexibly across Barnstaple, and South Molton Libraries to provide cover for staff absence, vacancies, and busy periods to ensure that we can continue to deliver our inclusive and inspiring library service to our customers.
You will play a key role in helping customers at every stage of their lives to get the most out of our services. It’s hands on and full of variety, with no two shifts ever being the same! In a typical shift, you could find yourself:
- Delivering a friendly, personable service to customers whilst helping them with their diverse reading and information queries.
- Using your excellent IT skills to help customers access our digital library services and connect to the wider world through our customer PCs or their own devices.
- Delivering events and activities that inspire a love of reading, learning and creativity with customers of all ages.
- Unleashing your creativity and develop your event planning and marketing skills by helping colleagues to plan and promote events and activities built with the local community in mind.
You don’t need qualifications or previous experience to join us – we’ll give you all the relevant training you’ll need. It’s your passion for helping others, strong IT skills, and your excellent organisation skills that are more important to us. Above all, you’ll need to be flexible in your working hours (including weekend working) with the ability to work across all the libraries within your group to provide cover as required. Some lone-working may also be required in our smaller, single-staffed libraries.
