Senior Care Assistant
Bankhouse are a residential care home for the elderly, based in Bury. The service is in a period of growth and regaining new residents so have increased staffing to sustain care and support to approximately 20 residents. They are now keen to hire a L3 qualified Care Assistant to add experience and supervisory capability to the existing team.
The majority of residents require support with age related disabilities, including restricted mobility and falls avoidance, mild dementia and isolation. We need you to be a care worker who is kind, patient and considerate of residents values and needs. We are rebuilding a care service based on enjoying, dignity in later life. The position is hard work, but highly rewarding. We want to be surrounded by a care team who loves to smile, who genuinely wants to improve and make a difference in someone’s life.
We will support training and further your skills to become more competent and able to support others. We will support you to learn additional skills to reflect the needs of our resident, especially if they grow in complexity. We do need you to align to our values and work hard as part of our team to consistently improve standards within the home and in return we offer flexibility with working full time and part time hours, consistency and stability in employment and an hourly wage of £12.80.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Personal Care:
o Assist clients with daily personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
o Help clients with mobility and transfers, ensuring safe practices are followed.
2. Health Monitoring and Medication
o Monitor clients’ health conditions, including taking vital signs (e.g., temperature, blood pressure, pulse).
o Assist with the administration of prescribed medications (where appropriate).
o Report any health changes or concerns to senior staff or healthcare professionals.
3. Household and Domestic Tasks:
o Assist with light housekeeping duties, such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
o Ensure a safe and comfortable living environment for clients.
4. Social and Emotional Support:
o Engage clients in meaningful activities to enhance their social interaction and emotional well-being.
o Provide companionship and emotional support, promoting independence and dignity.
5. Transport and Escort:
o Assist clients with transportation to appointments or social events.
o Escort clients as needed, ensuring safety and comfort during outings.
6. Record Keeping:
o Maintain accurate records of care provided, client progress, and any incidents or concerns.
o Report any issues to management, adhering to confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.
7. Compliance with Policies:
o Follow all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations, safeguarding, and data protection guidelines.
o Participate in training and development opportunities to stay current with best practices.
Working Conditions:
* Hours: 37.5 Hour working week. Flexible hours including every other weekend
* Salary: An hourly rate of £12.80.

Skills and Qualifications:
* Essential:

o Prior experience in care or a related field (desirable but not required).
o Ability to handle physical tasks and assist with mobility.

o Previous experience working with elderly or disabled individuals.
o Knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures.
o Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
