Blayze Group are currently working with a leading UK-based Main Contractor, who are renowned for delivering complex and high-quality projects across a variety of sectors, including commercial, residential, healthcare and education, currently seeking a Senior Design Manager to join their growing team in the South West of England. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual to manage and lead the design process across a variety of projects.
Role Overview:
As Senior Design Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing the design process of major construction projects from tender stage through to completion. You will be responsible for managing internal and external design teams, ensuring designs meet all project objectives, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with clients, stakeholders, and contractors to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the Design Process: Manage and coordinate all design activities, ensuring designs align with client requirements, budgets, timelines, and industry regulations.
* Team Management: Lead a multidisciplinary design team, mentoring, coaching, and supporting their development.
* Client and Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring their needs are met and expectations are exceeded.
* Value Engineering: Champion value engineering to optimize design solutions, ensuring cost-effectiveness, functionality, and quality.
* Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with the latest building regulations, safety standards, and environmental legislation.
* Tender Management: Oversee the preparation and submission of tenders, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with the client’s brief.
* Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with the design process and deliver proactive solutions to minimize delays or issues.
* Quality Control: Ensure the highest standards of quality are maintained throughout the design phase, from conceptual design through to delivery.
* Collaborative Approach: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other specialists to ensure the smooth integration of design and construction activities.
About You:
We are looking for a dynamic and results-driven Senior Design Manager with the following qualifications and experience:
* Educational Background: A degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
* Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of architectural, structural, civil, and building services design solutions.
* Project Management Skills: A strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Leadership: Experience in leading, mentoring, and managing multidisciplinary teams in a construction environment.
* Excellent Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence clients and stakeholders effectively.
* Regulatory Knowledge: A deep understanding of current building regulations and industry standards.
* Proactive and Problem-Solving: A hands-on approach to identifying problems and providing innovative solutions in a timely manner.
* Client-Focused: Ability to work collaboratively with clients, ensuring their vision is realized while balancing cost, schedule, and quality considerations.
Salary: up to £95,000 per annum (DOE)
