An opportunity has arisen for the Deputy Head of Financial Management post at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join our Finance team.

The successful applicant will be CCAB qualified or a passed finalist.
This post is based at Sunderland Royal Hospital Trust Headquarters site; however, hybrid working is in place in the Financial Management Team.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing a high quality and comprehensive accountancy service to ensure immediate and long-term financial viability and stability to the directorates within the organisation. Candidates should be future focussed with a passion for improving patient care and demonstrate commitment to achieving both their own and the Trust's goals.
The role will encompass a high degree of the following disciplines:
* Provision of high-quality financial advice and business support to Trust headquarters service Divisions.
* Financial planning, reporting, and forecasting.
* Expertise in managing or supervising staff.

Job responsibilities
Responsible for the provision of high-quality financial advice and business support to Trust Headquarters Service Divisions in order to facilitate the effective monitoring and management of Divisional finances.
Work closely with the Deputy Head of Financial Services to ensure coordination across the finance function.
Responsible for the provision of financial management services to the Trust, including overall co-ordination and control of monthly report production and annual revenue budgets in line with corporate governance requirements.
Support the Associate Director of Finance - Financial Management to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, integrity and business focus of financial Management systems and processes.
Co-ordinates and completes statutory returns including annual accounts, monthly NHS improvement returns and ensures the maintenance of appropriate internal control systems.

* Able to work accurately, thoroughly and with minimal supervision to tight deadlines.
* Reliable and committed to delivering targets and achieving outcomes.
Skills and Knowledge
* Sound understanding of the NHS financial regime and relevant legislation and guidance, including Payment by Results and the Single Oversight Framework.
* Excellent skills in analysing, interpreting and using highly complex data.
* Effective problem-solving skills, especially for new issues where there is no precedent to follow.
* Excellent communication skills including presentation and summary of complex data into meaningful information for Divisional staff.
* Good communication skills including presentation and summary of complex data into meaningful information for presentation to Associate Director of Finance Financial Management and Deputy Director of Finance.
* Working knowledge of clinical and non-clinical services provided by the Trust.
* Experience of presenting financial information and preparing reports for a non-finance audience.
Qualifications
* CCAB passed finalist committed to achieving full membership of professional body within 12 months of appointment.
* CCAB qualified accountant.
Experience
* Significant experience in finance working in a large or complex organisation.
* Experience of spreadsheet, database and word-processing packages and experience of use of computerised ledger systems, preferably Oracle Financials.
* Experience of managing or supervising staff.
