Job Purpose
The Senior Food Technologist provides vital support to category technologists and manages critical technical activities across projects. Responsibilities include overseeing factory trials, first productions, audits, complaint management, artwork compliance, and more.
You will manage and approve our supplier base, ensuring specifications are accurate and current, investigate non-conformances, and collaborate with the food safety team to enhance the quality management system across regions.
Reporting to the Head of Technical, you will work closely with procurement, NPD, and operations/sales teams globally. You will mentor junior team members, supporting their growth and aligning their work with business goals. Your expertise is crucial for maintaining high standards of food safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
1. Drive improvements to the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring global consistency in food safety and quality standards.
2. Manage the supplier base, conduct due diligence, and oversee supplier approval and risk assessments, collaborating with stakeholders.
3. Provide technical support for factory trials, first production runs, and audits.
4. Create and update product technical specifications for global projects, ensuring verification, approval, and accessibility.
5. Investigate non-conformances, providing reports and corrective actions.
6. Coordinate surveillance programs based on risk ratings.
7. Develop quality attribute sheets for ER-branded products and high-volume lines with suppliers.
8. Analyze complaints and supplier performance trends.
9. Travel domestically and internationally for site visits and audits (essential).
10. Ensure packaging complies with labeling legislation across regions, maintaining artwork documentation and approvals.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Person Specification
* Degree in food science/technology or related field.
* Experience in the travel sector in a supervisory quality/technical role in food manufacturing or flight catering.
* People management experience is desirable; managing small teams may be required as the company grows.
Knowledge & Skills
* Understanding of GFSI standards, HACCP/TACCP/VACCP, and labeling legislation.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Strong IT and report writing skills.
* Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines.
* Proactive, independent, and collaborative working style.
* Adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
