Job Title: Crushing and Screening Fitter Job Purpose: The Crushing and Screening Fitter is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing crushing and screening equipment used in construction, mining, and quarry operations. This includes troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, ensuring equipment runs efficiently, and minimizing downtime. Repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems of crushers, screens, conveyors, and related equipment. Troubleshoot and diagnose faults on crushing and screening plant equipment. Installation & Commissioning: Assist in the installation and commissioning of new crushing and screening equipment. Ensure equipment is installed in compliance with company and industry standards. Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations. Ensure that all work is completed in compliance with company safety standards and industry regulations. Perform risk assessments and hazard identification before beginning work. Equipment Inspection & Reporting: Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify signs of wear, damage, or potential failures. Complete detailed inspection reports and suggest required repairs or parts replacements. Maintain records of maintenance work and equipment history. Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Respond to breakdowns and repair equipment on-site or in the workshop. Work with engineers and management to address any recurring or complex mechanical issues. Customer Interaction: Provide technical support to customers when required. Assist in the training of site personnel on the proper operation and maintenance of crushing and screening equipment. Required Skills & Qualifications: Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of crushing and screening machinery. Previous experience in the mining, quarry, or construction industry is preferred. Technical Skills: Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics. Proficient in using diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and hand tools. Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Relevant certifications in Health and Safety (e.g., IOSH or similar) preferred. Full, valid drivers license (may be required to travel to different sites). Physical Requirements: Ability to work in challenging environments (e.g., dusty, noisy, or outdoor conditions). Must be physically fit for heavy lifting and manual labor. Personal Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills. Desirable Skills: Experience with specific brands or types of crushing and screening equipment. Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
