Job summary There is a post available for a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine with or without additional sessions in a related specialty at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of Intensivists and be involved with the re-development and expansion of a successful and thriving Critical Care Department. The successful applicant will join the Critical Care team of 16 consultants. The Trust provides critical care services on two sites: Stoke Mandeville Hospital [12 beds] and Wycombe Hospital [6 funded beds, with infrastructure for 8 beds] and a Critical Care Outreach service at both Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe hospital sites, servicing a population of 0.5 million with 900 admissions across both sites annually. Organisationally, the critical care department sits within the Anaesthetic and Critical Care Service Delivery Unit (SDU). The intensivists have anaesthetic or emergency medicine sessional commitments. The department would be able to accommodate consultants from other appropriate allied specialties within the Intensive Care Unit. There are also options available for a single-CCT intensivist with specifics depending on the interests of the applicant. Out-of-hours activity would be in Intensive Care for this post, with full participation in the ICU on-call rota. Relocation Support would be considered as per the Trust's policy. The successful candidate will take part full-time in the Critical Care on-call rota at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Wycombe Hospitals. The post comprises Critical Care cover as detailed in the description above and job plan below. If the allied specialty is anaesthetics, there will typically be 2-4 anaesthetic sessions in the non-Critical Care weeks.
