What You’ll Be Doing
Due to growth in the business, we are delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for a dispatcher to join our North Island General Transport division, based at our depot in Hastings. If you're an existing dispatcher seeking a change of scenery, an experienced driver ready to transition into an office role, someone with a background in supply chain management, or you have a passion for the transport industry and are keen to learn, this could be the career move you've been waiting for.
It is a hands-on role so previous experience in the transport industry is desirable but is not a requirement. The successful applicant will be responsible for the scheduling and dispatch of container and flat deck trucks across the North Island. Along with ensuring the most efficient use of resources by managing driver’s workload and allocating daily jobs, the dispatcher will also manage relationships with key customers and will be responsible for other general dispatching and office duties.
This is a full-time, permanent position working Monday – Friday dayshift, with an on-call weekend roster.
What we’re looking for:
1. Experience in operations – You’ve been in the transport industry for a while, preferably with hands-on experience in dispatching and scheduling.
2. Leadership skills – You’re able to inspire and lead teams, ensuring everyone works together to get the job done in a fast-paced environment.
3. Customer focus – You’ll always keep clients happy by ensuring service is efficient, professional, and top-notch.
4. Communication – You’re great at talking to people, whether it’s your team, clients, or internal key contacts.
5. Compliance – working in a compliant environment by ensuring that processes are being adhered to at all times.
6. Transport sector knowledge – You’ve got a solid background in transport and logistics.
7. Health and safety – You know how to keep a workplace safe, and you lead by example.
8. Local / National knowledge – If you know both the North and South Island well, that’s a bonus!
