Job Role ; Moving household and office furniture and other items to new premises or via storage. Working in small through to large teams Role and Responsibilities; Driving Vehicles up to a HGV category Maintaining and complying with all company and legislation requirements Manage and control small moves/projects, controlling and acting in a supervisory manner during day to day activities. Educating, training and developing other team members in delivery emphasising best practice, quality and standards Promoting company core standards and values Assisting the management of external contractors during delivery Household removals or relocations Office removals or relocations Taking goods into or out of storage Large specialist projects such as moving hospital, library or school equipment Moving specialist fine art and furniture Day to Day; Safely packaging items before removal or storage Wrap & protect furniture into special wrappings and packing cases for shipping overseas As a specialist packer, you might go to a location before the move to wrap and pack delicate items, like china, glass, artwork and antiques Using packaging to protect fragile items such as computers or antiques Taking apart larger items of furniture for packing and removal Taking down curtains and lifting carpets if needed Removing doors, door frames or windows to get large pieces of furniture in or out of a building Packing items, loading them into your vehicle and securing them safely Checking that all goods are secure before driving off Driving to the new location, unloading the items, reassembling large items and placing them where the customer wants them Unwrapping furniture and unpacking cartons Working Hours Working 5/6 days a week, which will include weekends and/or evenings Moves between longer distances could involve overnight stays in lodgings or in a vehicle Preferred Qualifications and Education Requirements; Educated to A Level or equivalent Full UK Driving License (up to 6 points) Preferred Skills / Qualities Punctual Hardworking Well Groomed Physically fit A polite, friendly manner and good communication skills A careful and methodical approach to your work The ability to work out the most effective way to load items An honest and responsible attitude to people's property Bandings Move Teams have three banding level 1-3 where 1 is a Junior role and 3 Senior. Progression through the levels depends on several factors including completion of training modules, experience and performance. Additional Notes Long-distance moves, for example to a European country, involve nights away from home, which usually means sleeping in the vehicle. Most vehicles now have sleeper cabs and cooking facilities. Operatives spend a lot of time in the cab of the removal vehicle, travelling to and from base and between loading and unloading points.
