Night Welfare Officer
YMCA George Williams House, Southampton
37.5 hours per week / Overnight on a 4 days on / 4 days off shift pattern
Evening, overnight, weekend and bank holiday working will be required
£22,570 per annum
Job Purpose
YMCA George Williams House is a purpose-built supported housing facility in the centre of Basingstoke accommodating 52 people aged 16-22, helping them to move to living independently. As a key member of the housing team this post will ensure that the premises and environment remains safe and accessible for all residents out of office hours and overnight.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
* Ensure the premises are kept secure and carry out periodic patrols internally and externally.
* Carry out housing management duties including de-escalating anti-social behaviour, removal of unauthorised visitors, managing disputes and enforcing policies and procedures.
* Monitor and review CCTV coverage, downloading incidents of importance and filling reports and data using YMCA’s systems.
* Ensure risk management plans and safeguarding processes are followed, including escalation of major incidents in line with policy.
* Note and report any repairs identified during the shift.
* Keep accurate records relating to individuals and any incidents that may occur, ensuring that this information is passed on in the specified way to the management and engagement team, while ensuring that professional confidentiality and boundaries are maintained.
* Ensuring that the fire safety of the premises is not compromised, that all fire exits and escape routes are free from obstruction.
* Provide fire warden support for the building (training will be given) including management of evacuations and operating fire alarm system controls.
Person Specification & Key Competencies
Qualifications and Experience:
* Relevant experience in a similar role or industry.
* A commitment to relating positively to residents, visitors, staff and volunteers.
* Excellent communication skills and good IT skills.
* Ability to react positively and effectively when faced with unwanted or high-risk behaviours.
* An understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures.
* An understanding of equality and diversity matters.
