This is a 10PA post to support the provision of the Paediatric Cardiology service. With 6 PA's being allocated to working clinically for United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and 4 PA's allocated to working for University Hospitals of Leicester NHS trust as a joint appointment. The post will be split between PEC duties (60%) and tertiary level 1 centre duties (40%) which will be primarily based at ULTH, however regular cross site working within Leicester is needed. The post will have an overall SPA split of 1.5 PA.
The post holder will practice at an advanced level demonstrating a high level of autonomy and clinical decision-making. They will work as a highly specialised member of the inter-professional team to ensure that the clinical needs of the patient and families are met at all times. The post-holder will be fully accredited in Paediatrics. They will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
The trust is proactively promoting quality improvement, practices clinical governance, and the appointee should be able to demonstrate skills in audit, risk management and evidence-based guidelines. The unit is also interested in any proposed innovative ways of working and welcomes any suggestions from the successful applicant.
Main duties of the job
* The post holder will have a number of dedicated paediatric cardiology duties and undertake a number of cardiology clinics.
* The post holder will support the care of inpatients who have a paediatric cardiology diagnosis in NICU, general paediatric wards and the paediatric critical care unit (PCCU) including bedside Echocardiography where appropriate.
* The post holder will be the primary contact for all referrals from inpatients and provide advice and support in managing these patients in liaison with the regional paediatric cardiology service.
* The post holder will contribute to the provision of high quality medical care for congenital cardiac patients requiring both acute and routine care.
* The post holder will contribute to the smooth running of the cardiology outpatient clinics.
* The post holder will also attend the joint cardiac meetings at the Regional Cardiac centre.

Essential
* Full registration with GMC
* MBBS or equivalent degree
* MRCPCH or equivalent
* On GMC Specialist Register in Paediatrics
* SPIN in Paediatric Cardiology (or equivalent training)
Desirable
* Congenital Heart Disease Echocardiography (CHD) Certification
Experience, Skills and Knowledge
Essential
* Broad range of clinical experience in Acute General Paediatrics
* Higher specialist training in Paediatric Medicine
* Experience in Paediatric Cardiology
* Paediatric Cardiac Morphology and Echocardiography training
* Up to date APLS/PALS
* Level 3 Safeguarding
* Congenital Cardiology CCT completion in UK
Desirable
* At least six months of PICU at middle grade level
* Experience in Medical Management roles
* Knowledge of business planning and budgets
