Our client - a leading UK product designer and distributor - is looking for a junior buyer to join their expanding team. With a dedicated in-house team of designers, they bring flair and imagination to their products. As an organisation, they are passionate about creating innovative and high-quality items.
Job Description:
As a Junior Buyer, you will work closely with the senior buying and product development team to create exciting new product ranges. Your responsibilities will include managing sub-categories, ensuring successful launches of seasonal newness, and developing existing products.
1. Manage sub-categories, oversee the launch of seasonal newness, and develop existing products.
2. Collaborate with the design team to write product briefs for suppliers.
3. Analyze quotes and update costing sheets accurately for senior approval.
4. Negotiate pricing with suppliers to meet company margins.
5. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
6. Manage critical paths to ensure key dates are met.
7. Handle sample management, including tracking, unpacking, packing, and dispatching samples.
8. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure sample availability for range selection and photography.
9. Address day-to-day queries, and compile and submit sample and pricing feedback.
10. Participate in product selection meetings with senior and director-level staff.
11. Create SKUs and POs on internal systems, ensuring data accuracy.
12. Assist in writing packaging specifications in collaboration with the design team.
13. Conduct trend analysis to identify market opportunities and incorporate them into range reviews.
14. Attend UK and overseas trade shows and travel to supplier locations across the Far East.
Ad Hoc Duties:
* Assist in producing weekly trade reports and other analyses as needed.
* Maintain accurate product data.
* Support UK trade shows and other activities as required.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
