There’s lots to do We are looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our growing Engineering team. About our Principal Electrical Engineer role: Our new Principal Electrical Engineer will play a core role in leading and supporting assessments and decision-making from the early stages of developments, through to managing grid connections and site commissioning. The role would suit an Electrical Engineer, with experience in renewable projects who enjoys writing technical specifications and is comfortable being the final technical sign off on electrical designs. Ideally we would like you to grow and develop an internal electrical engineering team, although we have space for someone who wants to remain technical if you prefer. Some of the things you may find yourself doing: Writing technical specifications and employers’ requirements (and supporting others to write). Reviewing detailed electrical designs and making suggestions for changes (e.g. single line diagrams, protection diagrams, cable sizing, earthing studies, SCADA and equipment specifications). Managing QA and Signing off on specifications and design reviews. (As we grow our services this may include hi-level designs, but not detailed design). Supporting in client conversations with stakeholders and managing technical queries from contractors. Working with the team, providing technical input into electrical engineering FEED for renewable technologies and grid connection applications. Liaising with network operator/contractor/client for the project’s grid connections at both distribution and transmission level, ensuring compliance with UK Grid Code and other regulations. Advising and guiding clients on grid connection processes in the UK abroad. This would include transmission and distribution level. Contributing knowledge of applicable electrical standards and best practice and of key electrical component specifications and current prices. Managing internal and external technical specialists to deliver high quality deliverable projects. The following experiences and qualifications are required: A degree in electrical engineering. Knowledge of grid code compliance. Demonstrable experience of working on grid connected renewable energy projects. Demonstrable experience working on voltages up to 275kV (400kV would be a bonus). Strong working knowledge of relevant IEC / BS Standards including BS7671. The following are desirable: Chartered Member of IET / IEE or similar is very beneficial. Undertaken the Owners Engineer role for utility scale renewable energy projects connected at both distribution and transmission. Experience with BESS co-located projects.
